Virtual tour

Opened in March 2023 and located at our Santena (Turin) headquarters, our company museum showcases the milestones, technological innovations, and sporting successes we have achieved in over one hundred years, from our humble beginnings to becoming a leader in our sector today.

Our story starts way back in 1912 in Turin, with the founding of Olio Fiat.
Later, in 1929, the Fiat Group's Lubricants Division began distributing its products in Italy. As the Italian manufacturer produced vehicles on a large scale, it needed an original equipment supply to ensure the constant supply of stock, that was also cost-effective. As a result, the manufacturer began producing the lubricant needed for its cars in-house. It was then and there that the foundations for PETRONAS Lubricants International were forged.
Heritage Highlights, the official PETRONAS company museum, preserves important, celebrated memorabilia for car enthusiasts, F1 fans, corporate visitors, and more. The exhibition explores our past of innovation and looks forward to an increasingly progressive, experimental future. From the track to the road, the museum focuses on PLI's commitment to motorsport, its unique work testing products for everyday cars in extreme conditions, and sustainability—with research into solutions aimed at reducing everyday drivers’ impact on the environment.

The museum exhibits the company's most iconic and historic brands, including PETRONAS Syntium, a family of products used in Formula One with the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, and PETRONAS Sprinta, dedicated to two-wheelers and tested in recent years on the track with the Yamaha Team in MotoGP.
Heritage Highlights also brings to life our history of iconic brands such as Paraflu and Selenia. Plus, it showcases our range of automotive lubricants specifically formulated for the FCA Group's engines and for the sports brand Abarth, Urania Iveco and its past in the Dakar Rally, preserving our historic communication campaigns, advertisements and technical partnerships.

Heritage Highlights also traces the line of PLI's sustainability journey, which began when the company was still called Fiat Lubrificanti and had a clear, early focus on reducing its impact on the environment. In the PLI museum, you can discover the pioneering ZIT (Zero Impact Trend) project, launched in 1992, in which the lubricant's contribution to reducing emissions was the most important aspect. The project's place in the museum marks a milestone in the company's technological innovation and demonstrates how sustainability is a fundamental element of continuity between our most distant and recent history, as well as one of the values on which PLI has always based its strategies and decisions.

“Our Heritage Highlights corporate museum houses the milestones of our history and commemorates our origins and achievements, allowing us to recognise our ongoing innovation and visualise our future plans for PLI’s sustainability journey. Being able to convey our company culture and our tradition as innovators is a great source of pride and offers a unique opportunity to amplify our impact through outreach to local communities. As well as offering a gathering place for national and international visitors who wish to share in our Heritage and our continuous journey to an efficient and sustainable future .”
We’d be delighted to welcome you to our Global Research & Technology Centre in Santena, where you can visit the Heritage Highlights museum, the laboratories where our lubricants and functional fluids are made, mechanical testing areas where products are tested on engines, as well as the production plant.
Our next Open Day is on the 6th of December. If you are interested in visiting, please register here.
